Launch & first-time setup
The first four things to do after your site goes live: site name, contact details, domain, and the essential legal pages.
Once your site is live you get a dedicated address (for example yourname.example.com). Courses, payments, and email are all built in — there is nothing extra to install.
This page walks you through the shortest path from a blank site to taking your first payment.
1. Fill in your site details
At the bottom of the left menu, "Settings → Site details" is the public face of your site. It includes:
- Site name: shown in the header and as the sender name on every system email
- Logo: a transparent-background PNG or WebP, ideally 300–600px wide
- Contact email / phone / address: shown in the footer, and the only way customers can reach you
💡 Contact details are not optional. Consumer protection rules generally require online sellers to disclose business information, and your payment provider will review this page when approving your account.
2. Review your legal pages
When your site is created, three pages are generated automatically — Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Terms of Service — and added to the footer for you.
These templates already handle a common point of confusion around cancellation and refund rights:
| Product type | Cooling-off / return window |
|---|---|
| Online course (digital content) | Often exempt from a mandatory return window |
| Physical goods | Return window typically applies |
You can use the templates as-is, but please read them through and edit them to match your actual policy — unclear refund terms are the single most common source of customer complaints in the course business.
3. Connect your own domain (optional)
Want an address like course.yourcompany.com? Enter it under "Settings → Site details → Custom domain", and the system will tell you which two CNAME records to add at your domain registrar.
⚠️ Add both records. If you add only one, the other form of the address (with
wwwvs. withoutwww) won't resolve and the browser will show a 522 error. This is the most common setup mistake.
The certificate is issued automatically and usually takes effect within a few minutes.
4. Set up payments
Until you connect a payment method, your courses can only be given away for free — you can't charge for them.
Payment providers (Stripe, PayPal, and local gateways) require you to apply for a merchant account first, and approval can take several business days. We recommend applying right at the start, rather than discovering you're blocked here after your course is already built.
For step-by-step instructions, see "Payment setup".
